“KopyKake” edible icing images are made for use on icing, fondant, butter-cream or ice-cream cake surfaces only, they should NEVER be placed directly on top of or near whipped cream which can cause the edible icing image to dissolve.
Light coloured cakes surfaces achieve the best results whereas dark colour cake surfaces may show through your design causing the edible icing image colours to darken unless it’s a dark colour image.
PREPARING CAKE TO APPLY YOUR CAKE TOPPER
- ICING/ROYAL ICING
The surface must be tacky i.e. fresh icing. If dry, spray a fine mist of water only over the area where the icing image will be applied before applying. Once placed on the cake, lightly pat down the image to remove any air bubbles trapped underneath. In approximately 5 minutes the icing image will begin to blend in. Do not touch, to avoid leaving finger print marks.
Prepare the cakes surface by brushing a fine amount of water (without leaving puddles) only on the area where the image will be placed. (Caution; water outside the image area may leave an ink colour mark on your fondant), note the image will not blend into the fondant unlike icing and can be touched.
Your edible icing image can be applied directly on to a moist butter-cream covered cake surface, however if dry use the same process for fondant by lightly brushing a fine amount of water (without leaving puddles) only on the area where the image will be placed.
- ICE CREAM CAKES
Are prepared by spraying the cake surface with milk or by letting the ice-cream soften a little bit before applying the image. Take care with the freeze / thaw cycles to avoid the build-up of ice crystals and the running of colours in the icing image.
